01The Signature Experience

A private riding holiday, shaped one party at a time.

Horses, open country, food and time at the Ranch. The route is never forced to satisfy a brochure.

A residential riding stay shaped around the riders, the available horses, seasonal conditions and the welfare of each horse. There is no instant booking — every request is reviewed by the Ranch.

02The Place

Where the dry country meets water.

Punanai lies among Sri Lanka’s eastern plains, seasonal waterways, scrub and grazing country. Routes change with rain, heat, water, footing and the condition of the horses.

A riding day

Four movements, not a timetable.

When they happen, and whether they happen at all, is decided on the morning by the horses, the weather and the footing.

  1. Preparation

Horses checked, tack fitted, the day’s plan set against condition and weather.

  2. On the trail

One or two sessions, each roughly ninety minutes to three hours. Never an automatic entitlement.

  3. Recovery

Horses untacked, cooled and rested. Riders eat and wait out the heat.

  4. Evening at the Ranch

Food, the day reviewed, and two hosted local evenings across a seven-day stay.

03The horse comes first

Welfare comes before volume, pace, or a fixed itinerary.

Trust must never be extracted from an animal for human entertainment. It must be earned, protected, and preserved.

The Vonfidel Doctrine

Suitability
Rider ability and horse suitability are considered before a stay is accepted.
Condition
Horse condition, weather and footing are checked before the day’s plan is set.
Judgment
The Ranch may change or cancel riding when welfare or safety requires it.
Access
Private, appointment-led access keeps the operation deliberate and low-volume.

04Where you stay

A ranch house, and no one else in it.

Accommodation is private to your party for the length of the stay. Full board, Starlink, laundry, and the evenings kept unhurried — two of them hosted locally across a seven-day stay.

Exclusive
The house is yours. Parties are never combined.
Board
Full board, cooked at the Ranch, eaten when the day allows.
Quiet
No fixed dinner sitting, no scheduled entertainment.

05Other ways to ride

The flagship stays central.
