Six rules decide whether a horse works today.

Not the booking. Not the guest. Not the itinerary. These six rules govern riding at Vonfidel Ranch, and they are not negotiable at the point of sale.

Trust must never be extracted from an animal for human entertainment. It must be earned, protected, and preserved.

The governing principle

02Non-negotiable rules

Applied to every request, every day, without exception.

Six rules govern every riding decision.

01

Welfare decides

A horse does not work when condition, confidence, workload, soundness, heat, footing, or recovery makes the plan unsuitable.

02

Suitability precedes access

Riding ability, confidence, weight, conduct, expectations, and the available horses are reviewed before a request is accepted.

03

Workload has limits

Horse rotation, rest, repetition, distance, pace, and group size are controlled by the Ranch team.

04

Field authority is final

Guides and wranglers may change, suspend, or end an activity where safety, welfare, weather, terrain, or conduct requires it.

05

Refusal is part of care

The Ranch may decline access, a requested horse, a route, a pace, or an operating plan where it cannot be carried out properly.

06

Claims must match practice

Public description, guest expectations, and commercial promises must remain within what the horses, people, and land can carry.

03Refusal

The point at which the standard is doing its work.

The Ranch declines work that breaches these rules.

Refusal is not a failure of hospitality. A request that cannot be carried out properly is answered in writing, with the reason.

  • Riding that continues when the horse is not ready.
  • Guest volume that damages welfare or field judgment.
  • Handling that values dominance over trust.
  • Hospitality that treats the horse as a replaceable asset.

05Begin

Ride under these terms, or do not ride here.

A request is not a booking. The Ranch reviews the party, the horses, and the season, then replies in writing with one clear next step.
